Welcome to Mrs. Vernon's Website
My class philosophy is that effort is very important for learning to be successful. Student effort is reinforced by saying "What I do is important! Effort makes a difference in my result. I can do it." I also encourage students to see the fun in learning. Students need to take the time to hear about something new and to relate it to their own life. There is always a question behind every answer and a teacher may not know everything. Good questions are evidence of good learning. Making mistakes are a way of learning. There is effort observed when mistakes are corrected. Each student learns differently. Each student needs access to what is helpful for them to learn. Learning is a life long process.
My class values kindness, cooperation and respect. We follow the Responsive Classroom process to build a classroom community.
All students need guidance, whether the student is an adult or child. I appreciate the parental support and guidance at home to encourage students to recognize the importance of education.
With frequent communication between the students, parents and me, we will have a great year of learning and fun.
